OUR SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION

Barefoot Dave, or Ojiig, is indigenous Aarjel Saemieh (South Saami) and Anishinaabe (Ojibway).  He is a traditional knowledge keeper, firekeeper, medicine keeper, and more; he has a very good understanding of traditional culture and faith.  But be warned that what and how much he shares will be dependent on a variety of factors, and he reserves the right to withhold or share teachings at his discretion.

As well, while we reject modern Christianity we do follow a very grassroots, counterculture, and creative expression of "The Way" of Jesus Christ.   He was raised with a knowledge and experience of both faiths.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to understand that we do NOT proselytize - your faith and beliefs will be supported.

HEALING AND GROWING FROM THE LAND

 - Our land is a natural and spiritual refuge -

We draw heavily on land-based methods and teachings; which is why we are located on 20 acres of mixed forest, with a pond and seasonal stream, and tons of birds and wildlife.  We have traditional Indigenous medicinal and forest gardens, traditional European-style gardens, as well as mediation/prayer sites, a healing sweatlodge, outdoor kitchen and dining areas, campfire pits, and a cozy porch for morning/evening coffee/tea.  There is plenty of space for camping, or for more personal attention you can stay in our guest room which comes with its own private deck.

On the property there is a traditional lavvu and healing circle, as well as a plan to add a traditional tipi  and then a guest yurt.

You will find our land to be restful, meditative, and inspirational.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME

WHY SHOULD YOU VISIT US?

We are your one-stop shop forBack to the Land teaching and skills.  We teach everything from primitive survival skills, to traditional indigenous forest living, to homesteading.  Barefoot Dave is a primitive skills and technology expert.  The root word of primitive is prime, meaning "First, Essential, Best", if you are to return to a life with nature we strongly recommend starting with the essentials - the first skills and build on them.

Along with learning the practical how-to's of the land you may qualify to learn rare ancestral teachings, and/or experience traditional forest healing opportunities.

As well as experiencing a safe and authentic space for life altering communication and connection to the natural world, your own spirit/being, and the Creator.

Let's start this new journey together.
